Welcome healthcare professionals!

Dear Student

Welcome to the first module of the Australian Medicinal Cannabis Course Online

With thanks to Olivia Newton John and her husband ‘Amazon John’ Easterling.

curated by Dr David Caldicott and provided for your online learning in conjunction with United in Compassion and Kaizen Digital. UIC and the Australian Medicinal Cannabis Course would like to acknowledge Olivia Newton John and her husband ‘Amazon John’ Easterling for their generous contribution which enabled this course to be made available to Australian Health Professionals online.

In this free module “An Introduction to the Australian Medicinal Cannabis Course” we introduce the full Australian Medical Cannabis Course for health professionals which is coming soon. This module also includes two bonus lessons relating to the history of medical cannabis and a brief introduction to cannabinoid dose tracking technology. A quick technical point, for best results please avoid viewing the course in Microsoft Edge browser (formerly Internet Explorer). We hope you enjoy it and we are looking forward to rolling out the full course in the coming months.

The Australian Medicinal Cannabis Course Online has been a long while coming. It comes to you as a completely independent project from a group of people who were integral in the legalisation of medicinal cannabis in Australia and who have no other motivation than to assist Australian patients.

For me personally, it represents unfinished business in the ongoing campaign I began with Dan, my now deceased son in 2014. Dan received great benefit from cannabis for the management of cancer related symptoms and management of chemotherapy induced nausea and vomiting.

Dan HaslamAlong his cancer journey, Dan’s doctors were frequently shocked, disinterested or confused about our efforts to legalise cannabis. I recognise that these responses are common to many others and impact very negatively on genuine patients. For this reason, David researched and curated this course. Together we want to help you on your journey to be educated, or rather re-educated, about the medical use of cannabis so that you feel comfortable, competent and even inspired to consider this treatment for your patients.

This course is dedicated to the memory of Dan Haslam
